Safety First:

• Stay Clear of Overflowing Sewage: Raw sewage can contain harmful bacteria. Please ensure children and pets are kept well away from the affected area.
• DO NOT Remove Manhole Covers: This poses an extreme danger due to the risk of falling and the potential release of trapped gases. Our trained professionals have the necessary safety equipment for this task.

Prevent Further Damage:

• Stop Using Water: Avoid flushing toilets, running taps, or using the washing machine, as this will add more water to an already strained system.
• Move Valuables: If the overflow is inside, safely move any furniture, rugs, or electrical items away from the affected area.

In an emergency it is easy to forget to carry out due diligence questioning before a provider starts their work, so we have briefly noted down the main checks you should take before giving the go ahead to a plumbing or drainage specialist:

• If they are working with Gas appliances, Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card. Every legitimate engineer must carry this.
• Confirm they have Public Liability Insurance- Remember, mistakes happen, if a plumber accidentally bursts a pipe and floods your downstairs neighbour, you need to know they have insurance to cover the damage. DrainsCo carries full liability cover.
